The arrest was made in conjunction with a petition filed by Rahmon Adedoyin, Chairman of Hilton Hotel and Resort, who is currently on trial with six employees of his hotel, Hilton Hotels, for the alleged murder of Timothy Adegoke, a postgraduate student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

Adedoyin filed a complaint with the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, alleging defamation, false alarm, provocation, and unlawful interference with police and court procedures.

The appeal was sent to the Director-General, Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Area 10, Garki, FCT, Abuja, as well as the Department of State Services (DSS), Osun State Chief Judge, Justice Oyebola Ojo, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC).
