Manchester United issue injury update on Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford and Victor Lindelof

Luke Shaw picked up a hamstring injury in the win at Everton and Man Utd have confirmed how long he will be out for some time.

Manchester United are set to be without Luke Shaw for a month after scans revealed the extent of the hamstring injury he picked up in the win at Everton.

The left-back set up Bruno Fernandes for United’s equaliser at Goodison Park but limped out of proceedings midway through the second half and will now be sidelined until December.

Shaw is expected to miss Premier League games against West Brom, Southampton and West Ham, as well as Champions League clashes with Istanbul Basaksehir, Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig while he recovers from the setback.

The 25-year-old has started all seven of United’s games between the October and November international break and the intense schedule, as well as the quick turnaround from defeat in Istanbul last Wednesday to beating Everton on Saturday lunchtime, may have played a part in another muscle injury being sustained in a season dominated by such problems.

Speaking after United’s win on Merseyside, Solskjaer criticised the schedulers that had given United such little break between their European commitments and a return to domestic action.

“We were set up to fail,” Solskjaer said. “I said to you before, I want to talk about the kick-off time. They set up the boys to fail. We’ve got Luke Shaw injured today because we’ve been to Turkey, we’ve played loads of games already this season, we’ve been to Turkey on Wednesday night, back in Thursday morning and we’re playing Saturday in a lunchtime kick-off, it’s an absolute shambles

Shaw’s injury could open the door to deadline day signing Alex Telles, who hasn’t played since United’s win against Paris Saint-Germain having been sidelined due to a positive COVID-19 test. Telles is on international duty with Brazil this week.

Marcus Rashford picked up a late shoulder injury at Goodison Park while Victor Lindelof has been managing a persistent back complaint so far this season.
